What Is Dermal Filler?

Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar molecule found in the skin, primarily functions by attracting and retaining water, acting as a "sponge" to plump up the skin, fill in wrinkles, and maintain its elasticity; when injected, it not only provides immediate volume but also stimulates collagen production, further enhancing skin firmness and reducing signs of aging over time.

Hyaluronic acid dermal filler is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. It is long-lasting but not permanent.

As we age, we start to lose hyaluronic acid, which causes the skin to lose structure and volume, contributing to the wrinkles and folds on our face. Upon injection, this highly effective formula can instantly smooth out lines along the sides of the mouth and nose, providing natural and authentic-looking results that can last up to a year.

Key points about hyaluronic acid:

Natural function

It exists naturally in the skin, joints, and eyes, where it helps lubricate moving parts and maintain moisture.

Cosmetic applications

In cosmetic procedures, hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin to fill in wrinkles, folds, and sunken areas, creating a fuller and smoother appearance.

Skin texture

By drawing moisture to the skin's surface, hyaluronic acid can also give the skin a fresh, glowing radiance and soft texture

Water-binding capacity

Due to its structure, hyaluronic acid can hold a large amount of water, contributing to skin hydration and volume.

Collagen stimulation

Injecting hyaluronic acid can trigger the body's natural collagen production, which further improves skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles over time.

What should I expect during filler treatment?

During your filler treatment, we’ll start by cleansing your skin and applying a numbing cream to ensure maximum comfort. You may still feel some pain, but it is very tolerable to most clients. The injections will take about 30 minutes. You’ll notice immediate results but you must wait two weeks before final results are visible. Some bruising and swelling may occur in the first few days, but this is generally reported as mild.

How long does filler last and can it be removed?

HA fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Depending on many factors, it may last even longer. If needed, HA fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme for adjustment or removal.
